MPS and OSCAR 6.x Overview and System Administration for the for the Nortel MPS Platform
This 3 day hands-on Overview and System Administration Class is designed for those responsible for the daily operation and monitoring of the Nortel MPS500 and MPS1000 platform along with OSCAR Speech Servers for speech recognition and text-to-speech.
This course will include the following:
- Overview and features of the MPS500, MPS1000 and the OSCAR 6.x Speech Server
- Location, Description and Functions of the major MPS and OSCAR hardware assemblies
- Overview of software processes involved in a call flow
- Basic Solaris commands needed for system administration
- Discussion of the PeriProducer/VoiceXML application and vocabulary life cycle, from creation to production
- Use of MPS Manager (PeriView) to monitor, status, and operate the MPS and the OSCARs
- Use of Vshell commands to monitor, status, and operate the MPS and the OSCARs
- Performing shutdown and restart
- Monitoring external Nortel resources Peri-IPML and OSCAR Speech Servers
- Administration and updating of the vocabulary files:
- Loading, unloading and finding status of vocabulary prompt files (Multimedia files)
- ZAP
- Steps to updating a production vocabulary file
- Administration of the MPS Developer (PeriProducer)/VoiceXML applications:
- Assigning, starting, unassigning, and terminating applications on the MPS
- Steps to updating a production application
- Locating and understanding system alarms on the MPS and the OSCARs
- Performing span and phone line status
- Perform host status
- Performing OSCAR speech server status
- Finding help and documentation on the MPS
- Performing a backup (non-mirrored systems only)
